Naval
Architect - Denmark
Established in 1962, our client
is an oil company operating an oil production
of more than 550,000 barrels per day and a sales
gas production of up to some 1,000 million cubic
feet per day. The company has a net production
exceeding 500,000 barrels of oil equivalents
per day from fields in the Danish and British
parts of the North Sea, offshore Qatar,
in Algeria and in Kazakhstan. Activities are ongoing
in the Danish, British, German and Norwegian
sectors of the North Sea, Qatar,
Algeria, Angola,
Kazakhstan,
Turkmenistan, Oman,
Morocco,
Colombia, Brazil
and Surinam.
Our client designs, develops
and operates a global fleet of advanced drilling
rigs. The rigs are designed to operate in extreme
conditions, and the oil companies lease the
rigs and personnel for exploration. Our client
also develops and operates a mobile fleet of
oil production ships. At the headquarters in
Copenhagen and at local shore bases, they
are building the strategic, technological and
administrative foundation for their offshore
operations.
We are now seeking Naval Architects
for employment in the Denmark offices. The Engineering
Department works with both new building projects
and operational support. The engineering is
related to drilling rigs as well as floating
production units. The present new building projects
take place in the Far East
while our operations are world wide.
The jobs will be in either drilling engineering
or in oil production engineering. You will be located in the headquarters,
with visits to building yards, world wide suppliers
and the offshore units. Such trips can be short
business trips but also longer yard or rig stays
after agreement.

Tasks:
Our naval architects will be
assigned to new-building projects or conversions
of existing units and typical tasks include:
- Preparation of outline
specifications
- Manage design with
subcontractors
- Manage specialist
studies and warranty surveys
- Review and comment
design documents
- Review and implementation
of recommendations from classification Society
- Participate in contract
negotiations with subcontractors
- Participate and/or
conduct meetings with subcontractors
- Participate in safety
review meetings HAZID/HAZOP etc.
- Participate in QA
reviews
- Participate in interface
coordination activities
Qualifications:
- That you are a brilliant
engineer
- That you are prepared
to travel, also to an offshore installation
- Good in teamwork
but also able to perform on your own
- You know international
standards within your area of expertise
We are looking for Naval Architects with relevant experience covering
a number of the above-mentioned tasks. We have
a preference for experience within the offshore
or shipping industry, but other relevant experience
would also be considered.
The ideal candidate is either a young graduate
engineer with minimum B.Sc. Degree from a recognised
university, and with a good command of relevant
disciplines within naval architecture and marine
engineering, or a Senior Engineer with experience
from shipyards, ship-owners, engineering consultancy
or classification society, but similar relevant
experience could also be considered.
